Development
Background
Footgolf is a precision sport where players kick a soccer ball into a cup in as few shots as possible. Its name is a portmanteauof "football" and "golf", and the game combines the two sports, being more closely related to golf.
The game is played with a regulation #5 soccer ball at a golf course facility on shortened holes with 21-inch diameter cups. The rules largely correspond to the rules of golf. Footgolf was established as an official sport in Netherlands, the Dutch established rules for football golf tournament in 2009.
Federation for International Footgolf (FIFG)
FIFG has established the international rules and guidelines of FootGolf under which all members agree to abide. Any deviation of established rules must be pre-approved in writing by the FIFG. The FIFG recognizes only one member of this organization per country. China has became the 29th member of FIFG since 2015.
